Dubrovnik is a town of a unique political and cultural history. It’s a home to several surprisingly poets, painters, mathematicans, physicists and other scholarsand it is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Adriatic-Sea coast.

Traffic jams on Dubrovnik streets are apparent proof of accelerating number of arrivals in the first seven months of this year. “9% more visitor arrivals and 7% more overnite stays are realized. We are planning about ten percent increase in tourism results,” recounted Jelka Tepisic, director of TZ Dubrovnik.

The results in Dubrovnik-Neretva County are similar. In the first seven months arrivals increased by seven %, and overnite stays by 5 p.c. Hotel traffic increased by seven p.c, while the camps and personal owners noticed a decline of three and 2 %.

“The first information shows typically the increase in income compared with last year, but we will see what will occur with the cost side of the total business,” said Vladimir Bakic, director of TZ Dubrovnik-Neretva county.

President of Dubrovnik travel agents points out that the most plush hostels achieved the most satisfactory results and are prepared from May to late Sep. Hostels with five stars are literally sold out.

“We are achieving excellent prices and according to the situation as it is now, a recession has passed,” said Luca Baca from Grand Villa Argentina – a beautiful villa found in an exclusive area, close to the important middle of Dubrovnik.
